Happy parenting tips from Libby in Sydney

I got a lovely surprise yesterday morning when I found a blog comment in my in-box which for a change was not spam but instead an old friend called Libby (from Bristol of yesteryear) who now lives in Australia with her partner and two fabulous looking children. My good friend Madders had sent her the URL to this blog and we swapped a few excited emails as we realised we were both into similar things these days (daft household management hints and tips, home cooking, and top parenting ideas).

Her blog is brilliant as it includes almost daily comment WITH PHOTOS of all the great things she and her kids get up to. She is able to share their day-by-day growing with the kids’ grandparents, aunties and cousins who are all living in the UK.

Libby’s blog has inspired me to dig out the camera and the all-important wire which I upload the pics to the pc through and get snapping (when I told my mum how fab my children looked as witches and wizards for Halloween she asked whether I’d photographed them and I had to confess that it had not even occurred to me…)
Her blog also has loads of top tips for simple crafty things which don’t cost the earth, aren’t too messy to do at home but as she says they ensure the kids entertain the kids ‘thus giving *you* more time to drink tea’.

Thanks Libby for getting back in touch and for being so inspirational across the miles and being a pioneer in modern, thrify, environmentally friendly housewiffery in Oz!

(Also thanks v. much for dropping today’s crafty knowledge about buying good quality coloured pencils – had just recieved 49p packet in the post from Great Granny Hilda and couldn’t understand why they were so rubbish at colouring. Also had foolishly allowed small girl to use the blue felt which came with a comic and now have beloved pink flowery Cath Kidston wipe-clean tablecloth adorned with accidental but permanent blue lines. Washable is def the way forward!)
