As a Key Stage 1 teacher I asked my class to write a letter to Santa before Christmas but they had to ask him for something for somebody else. Many children wrote on the lines of please could you give my grandpa a wheelchair, or children with no food something to eat. Don't know what able bodied grandparents in their 50's will make of the comments though but it got the children thinking of others rather than themselves for a change.
