Our kids were taken to Bristol Zoo Gardens by their daddy’s relatives. I wasn’t mad on the idea of looking at caged animals but I had no idea what a wonderful place the zoo is for families a huge oasis of amazing gardens in the centre of Bristol. We got to learn about all sorts [...] I’ve just been given a long list of top tips from my friend Pip who is the hostess with the mostess (thanks Pip!) and I thought I’d jot them all down before I forget them to use for our twins’4th birthday next weekend when we’ll have eight 2-4 year olds to entertain. I’ve managed [...] Having had a couple of abortive attempts at celebrating the 5th November in previous years since the kids were born we finally had a lovely little pagan-style celebration at the weekend with a small bonfire,a pumpkin with candles,sparklers and hot dogs. The kids loved it but only because we’d (a) started [...] Once in a while I get a load of tins and packets out of the cupboards (usually when I notice the cupboards are in need of a good wipe over) and put loads on the kitchen table,grab the small plastic shopping trolley and Edie’s baby (Bunny). I then raid Bealer’s change stash [...] Our kids play with their playdough almost every day making little pretend dinners,worm families or faces on the table. They have a tub full of playdough tools which their 93 year old great grandmother bought for them. 1 Minute Playdough recipe: Your will need: 1/2 cup of salt 1 cup of flour [...] The other day we chanced upon a toy library when we had to go and pick up some business cards for my husband. It was tucked away on a little tiny business park but had bright coloured signage. Today we went with proof of address back to join Borrowers Toy Library and all three of [...] Instead of throwing away all the flyers and brochures that come through the door we put them in a box and almost every other day one or both of the kids ask to do cutting and sticking. While they are randomly chopping and hacking through pieces of card or magazines I quietly cut various pictures [...] I seem to have conquered my fear of making a terrible mess when the kids cook with me and am now a lot more relaxed each time we attempt to make something together. They really enjoy being in the kitchen and seeing how things miraculously transform themselves from being raw,seperate foodstuffs to wonderful cakes,[...] There are hours of fun for all the family when you put together a small collection of old buttons (obtained from charity shops,relatives,spares supplied with clothes,the sewing box). They can be sorted by size,shape or colour (‘These ones are all my favourite colour pink’),put into a long line,counted poured [...] | ||||||
